CCSS & Differentiated Classrooms

Describe (in general) the standards for mathematics.

The math standards  entail that  mathematical practice summarize  what every  students  should  know  as   well  as what  students  should  be  successful  with at   the  end  of  each  grade .Mathematical standards  combines all data  describing  the  abilities  and  comprehension need  to  accomplished in college ,their careers, and their every day experiences. In schools today a variety of strategies are used to convey math concepts. According to Russell (2012) “teachers are encouraged to provide opportunities to implement the practice standards throughout elementary, middle, and high school alongside the mathematical content standards”.

As stated by Puckett (2013)together the CCSS mathematical standards aim to develop procedural fluency and conceptual understanding of mathematical content through engagement and methods that focus on the process of
 learning”.

Describe (in general) the standards for English language arts.

The  intention  of  Language Arts standards  are  to  offer  strategies  that  ensure  students  learn  and  clearly  understanding  writing, reading, talking, listening, and  how  to use  efficient  verbal communication in a  large areas of content. The English standard encourages literacy skills and concepts that are essential for future education. The standards illustrate how students should be developed  at  a certain age  group.

Summarize the Common Core State Standards initiative including their purpose (i.e., the expectations of the CCSS) and academic impact.

The main reason and initiative for Common Core State Standards is to be certain students that  ages K-12 are  familiar  with all  the  essential material needed for  both  English  and  Mathematics before  completing each  grade. The  standards  are  designed  to ensure  all students are successful and  prepared  for  future  education, the  given  career  choice, and in their  real life  experience. It  is  critical  to be  certain students are involved  this  includes   student  with  learning  disorders  as  well disabilities.

Discuss how differentiated instruction is an essential strategy for the CCSS.

When  teachers  implement  differentiated learning strategies to  offers student  many  path  for  gathering  information and  content. These tools help student to process information and get a clear understanding of the gathered material. Inside a differentiated classroom it this is helpful because it allows teachers to recognize students with diverse backgrounds, skills, languages and learning preferences. Differentiated instruction plays a valid role  in the common core  standards  because  students  receive a  variety  of  methods that support  student  learning. Differentiated instruction and Common Core Standards both  same goals and objectives because they  both want  students to  succeed, learn, and prepare for the future. Both differentiated instruction and common core standards underline the significance of creating a positive, safe, creative, learning environment and how imperative it is to know each students learning style. Differentiated instruction and common core standards share the objectives when using assessments, collaboration and the 21st century technology to be sure teachers and students get high quality educational practice needed to ensure successful students, and learners as well get them prepared for college. According to Tomlinson (2004),  “differentiated instruction is the process of ensuring that what a student learns, how he/she learns it, and how the student demonstrates what they have learned is a match for that student’s readiness level, interests, and preferred mode of learning”

Explain five or more differentiated strategies, tools, or activities that will support teachers’ implementation of the CCSS for mathematics.

·        Encouraging  and assisting students who struggling
o   Trying out diverse strategies and techniques  that assist students
·        Encourage students to use critical thinking skills
·        Assess students on what they have learned

     Activity for math/tool could include:

·        Graphing
·        Logic games
·        Ipads
·        Common Core Math activities associated to the CCSS
o   Memory and matching

Explain five or more differentiated strategies, tools, or activities that will support teachers’ implementation of the CCSS for English language arts.

·        Teachers get  students to pair  up  into groups and do a group essay
·        Teachers supplies students with vocabulary words to read out loud
·        Letting  students  to give and receive feedback and ask question
·        Teachers can apply all the necessary 21st century skill in technology
